Selected from the margins of previous works and reading notes written between 2013-25, each poem in Always More has been re-worked into a form that privileges density and intensity and brevity to activate specific parts of the page, spread or sequence. They are gathered and layered here in loose-leaf sheets of unnumbered pages to invite re-combinatory gestures of opening. My first invitation went to the Pathways authors, whose responses are dotted throughout, offering eight ways into and out of the collection.
I am grateful to all those publishers who presented earlier versions of these poems: 'Scope' in The Xenotext: Book 2 Special Edition (Coach House Books, 2025); 'A Tear' in Convolution, No. 5-7 (2020); 'How to Speak Myself Out of Myself' in Try to Be Better (Prototype Books, 2019); This. For Everyone' in Prototype 3 (2021); 'Six and Twenty-Six Letters' for Library Interventions (Leeds College of Art, 2014); 'Superintelligence' in The Economy is Spinning (Onaomatopee, 2017); 'The Matter' for Pretty Brutal Library (&Model Gallery, 2014); 'Whereas' for More Song (2024); and 'Missing with Purpose' in 'The Joys of Being Undone' (Leeds Poetry Centre, 2019).
